About

My interest in computer networking began in my childhood when I first encouraged my father to upgrade our analog modem to a 128k ISDN line by providing a financial comparison of time sink due to large download times that I was conducting.

Learning about bonded channels then lead me into the world of Ethernet where I designed and supported my father’s office network of twelve employees with simple file and print sharing with Internet access over a SOCKS proxy connected to a SDSL connection.

Later on the scope of my passion grew where I befriended the High School networking technician, eventually earning his trust to be able to help him deploy Cat 5 cable over the summer to the library. Now after working in various IT related support and consulting roles, I am working with larger networks that are geographically separated and with a team that relies on my talents to both improve and troubleshoot networking related issues.

I have always had a passion for blinking lights and wondering what is behind them. My inquisitive nature has me asking questions about what is being transferred, how is it disseminated, or how can the performance be improved; I am the person at the office that has and enjoys defending the claims of the network running slow, clients not receiving files, or providing insight into security issues and translating them into more management-friendly terminology.

After working in Chicago for a numbers of years, I decided that a change of scenery was in order. I have recently relocated to the Bay Area to work as a Network Engineer.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my Golden-mix dog, learning Spanish, running trails, and competing in open-water swim races.
